Job summary

Prattwhitney is looking for a Mechanic at our Columbus Engine Center in Midland, Texas. You will be essential in the overhaul and repair of advanced jet engines that support both commercial and military aircraft.

This role involves working closely with a team to ensure the highest quality standards in engine maintenance. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and offers comprehensive benefits including medical insurance and a 401(k) plan.

Responsibilities

Skills

Job Summary

Join Pratt & Whitney at our Columbus Engine Center, where precision meets purpose. As a Mechanic, you’ll play a critical role in the overhaul, repair, and assembly of advanced jet engines that power commercial and military aircraft around the world.

Shift Schedule

1st Shift: Monday – Thursday 5:00 am – 3:30 pm

What You Will Do

• Work as a member of a team responsible for turbine engine, engine module, or component maintenance in accordance with published work instructions and approved technical data.
• Utilize hand tools and a wide variety of tooling and fixtures to assemble/disassemble and test a jet engine.
• Ensure all phases of assembly/disassembly as specified by work instructions, comply with required self‑inspection or peer inspection of critical processes ensuring adherence to quality standards.
• Monitor and ensure processes meet Safety, Quality and Delivery objectives.

Role Eligibility

U.S. citizenship is required. Only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Compliance

Candidate will be subject to drug and alcohol testing as a pre‑employment contingency and also subject to ongoing random testing as required by FAA regulations. The position is considered safety‑sensitive under FAA Guidelines.

Qualifications You Must Have

• High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.

We Prefer

• Aviation engine overhaul and repair experience.
• Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License or Powerplant (P) Certificate.
• Hands‑on experience in one or more of the following disciplines: disassembly, inspection, assembly, or turbine engine test operations.
• Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma.
• Experience using Microsoft Office applications and SAP.
