Job summary

Pratt & Whitney is looking for a Mechanic at our Columbus Engine Center. In this role, you’ll be essential in overhauling, repairing, and assembling advanced jet engines.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Experience with aviation engine overhaul and repair is preferred.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance on turbine engines in accordance with work instructions.
  • Use hand tools to assemble and disassemble jet engines.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards during assembly processes.
  • Monitor processes to meet safety and quality objectives.

Job Summary

Join Pratt & Whitney at our Columbus Engine Center, where precision meets purpose. As a Mechanic, you’ll play a critical role in the overhaul, repair, and assembly of advanced jet engines that power commercial and military aircraft around the world. Working in a hands‑on, team‑driven environment, you’ll apply your mechanical expertise to ensure engines are restored to peak performance, safety, and reliability.

Weekend Shift: Friday – Sunday 6:30am – 7:00pm

What You Will Do
  • Work as a member of a team responsible for turbine engine, engine module, or component maintenance in accordance with published work instructions and approved technical data.
  • Utilize common hand tools as well as a wide variety of tooling and fixtures to assemble/disassemble and test a jet engine.
  • Ensure all phases of assembly/disassembly as specified by work instructions, comply with required self‑inspection or peer inspection of critical processes ensuring adherence to quality standards.
  • Monitor and ensure processes meet Safety, Quality and Delivery objectives.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Aviation engine overhaul and repair experience
  • Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License or Powerplant (P) Certificate
  • Hands‑on experience in one or more of the following disciplines: Disassembly, Inspection, Assembly, or Turbine Engine Test Operations.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications and SAP
