Job summary

Lamers Bus Lines, Inc. is seeking experienced diesel mechanics to service and repair our school bus and motor coach fleet in Houghton, Michigan. You will handle routine maintenance, diagnostics, and timely repairs to keep our fleet safe and on the road.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with heavy equipment, proficiency with diagnostic tools, and a strong problem-solving mindset. CDL is preferred or willing to obtain; ASE certifications are a plus.

• Experience with buses, trucks, or heavy equipment.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Good problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
• CDL preferred or willingness to obtain CDL.
• ASE certifications are a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and perform preventive maintenance on motor coaches.
• Identify and repair engine, transmission, and heavy equipment issues.
• Conduct safety checks to ensure vehicle compliance with regulations.
• Maintain detailed service logs for repairs and inspections.
• Participate in scheduled maintenance and fleet improvement projects.

What You’ll Do

• Routine Maintenance: Inspect and perform preventive maintenance on motor coaches.
• Diagnostics & Repairs: Identify and fix engine, transmission, and heavy equipment issues.
• Compliance: Conduct safety checks to ensure vehicles meet all regulations.
• Record-Keeping: Maintain detailed service logs for all repairs and inspections.
• Project Work: Participate in scheduled maintenance and fleet improvement projects.

What We’re Looking For

Skills & Qualifications:

• Previous experienced with buses, trucks, or other heavy equipment.

• Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred or willingness to obtain).
