An established industry player is seeking an entry-level specialist in diesel engine and transmission products. This role involves assembling, testing, and inspecting various components to ensure performance and reliability. Job Description: UAW represented Entry Level position that serves as a specialist in diesel engine and transmission products, demonstrating technical knowledge in assembly, test and repair. Understanding and demonstrated use of appropriate tools including but not limited to, calipers, micrometers, torque wrenches a must.
Essential Functions:
Assemble, Test and/or inspect Transmissions, Engines, and their sub-components to execute performance and reliability testing and failure analysis for product warranty returns and developmental engineering programs.
Modify, rework, rebuild, and retest components as required.
Install engines, transmissions, and other powertrain components in test cells and vehicles to perform testing.
Collect the test and inspection data required for engineering evaluation of performance, reliability and durability parameters.
Operate or maintain tracked or wheeled vehicles and prototype vehicle construction.
Fabricate mockups of prototypes for Engineering developement.
Assist other Mechanics on projects described above.
Work independently as well as in a team environment.
Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
0-2 years minimum experience
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and move freely throughout the Manufacturing Facility and Lab Area
Must meet Anthropometric vehicle entry requirements
Ability to demonstrate general mechanic's knowledge
Preferred Additional Skills:
Certification or vocational training in Automotive or Powertrain service and repair preferred
Possess complete set of mechanic's hand tools
Basic welding skills preferred
Operation of basic machine shop tools preferred
Sheet metal/wood fabrication skills prefered
Ability to demonstrate familiarity with government tracked/wheeled equipment is preferred
