Job summary

TenCate Protective Fabrics in Kentucky seeks an Electrician / Mechanic to maintain electrical wiring, fixtures, and mechanical systems in our manufacturing facilities. The role also involves installing, repairing, and maintaining machines and components. This full-time position operates on a night shift, Monday through Friday from 12 a.m.

to 8 a.m., with potential weekends/overtime as duties require. Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent and formal electrical/maintenance

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Diploma or Certificate in Electrical or Plant Maintenance Program from a certified state technical college or equivalent.
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical systems and wiring.
  • Ability to use power and hand tools, diagnostic equipment, test meters, welders, oxygen/acetylene torch and plasma cutter.

Responsibilities

  • Builds and assembles machines and mechanical components according to requirements.
  • Installs electrical wiring, conduits to house electrical wires and cables to code.
  • Performs routine maintenance on machines to ensure they operate properly.
  • Runs diagnostic testing to discover functionality issues.
  • Inspects and troubleshoots problems with existing electrical systems.
  • Installs replacement parts on existing electrical/mechanical units.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory of replacement parts and ordering replacements.

Electrician / Mechanic is responsible for maintainingelectrical wiring, fixtures, and systems in the buildings. This employee will also install, repair, and maintainmachines andmechanicalcomponents.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

This job operates in amanufacturingenvironment androutinely uses highly specialized equipment.Theemployeeis frequently exposed to noise, dust, and electrical current. The employee is subject to hazards which include a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, working on scaffolds and high places,requiring the use of appropriate personal protective equipment including safety glasses, hearing protection and non-skid shoes.The employee is subject to outside environmental conditions with extreme cold or heat, depending on the time of year.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the candidate must be able to sit, stand, stoop, twist and bend at the waist, turn, kneel, squat, raise arms above shoulder height, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements and fine coordination to work on electrical and mechanical equipment; have vision sufficient to perform maintenance; have hearing in the normal range with or without correction. In an 8-hour shift must be able to transport self across the facility, ascend and descend stair steps, lift objects up to 50 pounds from floor level to waist height, climb and work off of a ladder; use arms and back to tighten and loosen nuts and bolts; work in confined spaces and wear and use appropriate safety equipment.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 12 a.m. to 8 a.m. Weekends and overtime may be required as job duties demand.

Little to no travel is expected for this position.
