Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience in truck trailer maintenance required.
  • Chauffeur's License and CDL preferred.

  • Diagnoses mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic breakdowns.
  • Performs general equipment maintenance and repairs.

Mechanic, Class 8
As a Mechanic, Class 8 you will be responsible for building, rebuilding and repairing all parts of Company equipment as required based on departmental needs.


Essential Functions & Requirements:



  • Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and maintaining safe practices at all times

  • Builds, rebuilds, and repairs all parts Company equipment as required based on departmental needs

  • Diagnoses any mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic breakdowns or failures to a motor truck or related equipment

  • Reads precision instruments as needed such as voltmeters, digital multimeters, calibrators, and other electronic diagnostic tools

  • Performs general equipment maintenance

  • When applicable, uses basic MIG welding of steel and aluminum to complete repairs

  • Operates equipment to perform general equipment repair and installation

  • Performs assigned work in compliance with all safe work procedures, guidelines, practices, permits, and air monitoring requirements

  • Takes on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization


Education:



  • High-school diploma or equivalent (required)


Experience:



  • 1+ years of experience in truck trailer maintenance (required)

  • Chauffer's License (required)

  • CDL (preferred)


Competencies:



  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner

  • Ability to operate maintenance tools and equipment required to safely complete work tasks

  • Working knowledge of most systems located on a truck, truck tractor, or semi-trailer

  • Ability to apply knowledge of DOT and OSHA rules and regulations

  • Ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record search to Company standards

  • Regular and predictable attendance to perform the functions and requirements of this role
