Job summary

Transdev in El Cajon, California is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician B to diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines across a range of vehicles. You will support A-Level mechanics, perform diagnostics, and lead maintenance tasks to keep fleets safe and reliable.

Qualifications

• 3-4 years of experience in repair and maintenance of heavy-duty transit equipment preferred.
• ASE certifications preferred, including 609/608 air conditioning where applicable.
• DOT drug testing and physical may be required under DOT regulations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct diagnostic tests using advanced tools and software to troubleshoot engine issues.
• Perform moderate complexity repairs and replacements on engine components.
• Assist A-Level Mechanics in advanced diagnostic and repair tasks.
• Execute routine maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns and optimize engine performance.
• Lead diagnostic tests to identify complex issues and determine repair strategies.

Maintenance Technician B

Transdev in El Cajon, CA is seeking an experienced B-Level Mechanic to bolster our team. This role demands expertise in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines across various vehicles and equipment. As a Mechanic, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring safety, efficiency, and longevity for our vehicles.

• $41.49 per hour
• Starting pay $41.49 with progression based on CBA negotiation over a 3-year period.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct diagnostic tests using advanced tools and software to troubleshoot engine issues.
• Perform moderate complexity repairs and replacements on engine components, ensuring optimal functionality.
• Assist A-Level Mechanics in advanced diagnostic and repair tasks, contributing to efficient workflow.
• Execute routine maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns and optimize engine performance.
• Lead diagnostic tests to accurately identify complex issues and determine comprehensive repair strategies for engines.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting and repair tasks on diesel engines, including overhauling and rebuilding components to required specifications.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior technicians, assisting them in developing their skills and knowledge
• Other duties as required.

Qualifications

• 3-4 years of experience in the repair and maintenance of all types of heavy-duty transit equipment preferred
• ASE certifications preferred
• Three H or T series ASE certifications preferred, of which two must include H2, T2, T4 or H4.
• Additionally, optimally, will possess 609 and 608 air conditioning certificates.
• Mechanic’s Tool Set
• Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
• Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to manipulate, handle or feel; reach with hands or arms; and talk or hear.
• Frequently required to sit.
• Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel crouch or crawl; and smell.
• Occasionally required to lift up to 75 pounds.
• Must be able to work in extreme heat and cold and in a damp environment with moderate noise.
• May be exposed to water, fumes, and chemicals.
