Job summary

Delong Mountain Logistics is seeking a Mechanic Assistant to provide general labor support to the maintenance department at the Red Dog Mine site in Alaska. The role includes vehicle washing, parts receiving, assisting mechanics, and light paperwork in a remote, on-site setting.

The position features a rotating schedule with 2 weeks on-site and 2 weeks at home, overtime potential, on-site lodging and meals, and a comprehensive benefits package including healthcare, retirement, and tuition

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• MSHA certification preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Wash and clean company vehicles, tractors and trailers and other equipment.
• Assist in receiving, inventorying and stocking parts.
• Assist mechanics as needed.
• Assist with paperwork and creating repair records.
• Operate company skid steer/pickups; training provided.
• Maintain housekeeping in the shop and around shop areas.
• Complete all assigned tasks in a timely manner.
• Regular attendance and punctuality are essential.
• Adhere to the Company’s safety policies.

Delong Mountain Logistics is looking for a Mechanic Assistant. This positionprovides general labor support to the maintenance department.

DeLong Mountain Logistics provides logistics services for the Red Dog Mine, a world-class zinc mine located in Alaska, 100 miles north of the Arctic Circle. Our services include hauling ore concentrates, transporting freight, and fuel transport operations. DeLong Mountain Logistics is a partnership between NANA Regional Corporation and Lynden Logistics.

What you will be doing:

• Wash and clean company vehicles, tractors and trailers and other equipment
• Assist in receiving, inventorying and stocking parts
• Assist mechanics as needed
• Assist with paperwork and creating repair records
• Operate company skid steer/pickups. Training will be provided on operation of company skid steer/pick-ups
• Maintain housekeeping in the shop and around shop areas
• Complete all assigned tasks in a timely manner
• Regular attendance and punctuality are essential
• Adheres strictly to the Company’s safety policies.

What we need from you (minimum requirements):

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED), preferred.
• Must be able to work rotating shifts, days or nights as required.
• Able to frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds and occasionally lift and occasionally move up to 100 pounds.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

• A valid driver’s license, or the ability to obtain one.
• MSHA certification is preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The Red Dog Mine is a remote location with rotational schedules. Lodging and meals are provided to those working on site. The successful candidate must be able and willing to work at a remote site for up to four weeks at a time and may be required to work different shifts during the scheduled rotation.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
