Job summary

Lynden Incorporated is seeking a Mechanic Assistant for Delong Mountain Logistics in Alaska. This role provides general labor support to the maintenance department on a remote site with a 2 weeks on-site, 2 weeks home rotation. You will assist mechanics, wash vehicles, help with parts and paperwork, and help maintain the shop.

Candidates must be at least 18, have a high school diploma or GED, and be able to lift 75–100 lb. A valid driver’s license is required; MSHA certification is preferred.

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Rotating day/night shifts on a schedule.
• Able to lift up to 75 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Wash and clean company vehicles, tractors and trailers and other equipment.
• Assist in receiving, inventorying and stocking parts.
• Assist mechanics as needed.
• Assist with paperwork and creating repair records.
• Operate company skid steer/pickups with training provided.
• Maintain shop housekeeping and safety standards.
• Complete tasks in a timely manner; maintain punctuality.

Job Description

Delong Mountain Logistics is looking for a Mechanic Assistant. This positionprovides general labor support to the maintenance department.

DeLong Mountain Logistics provides logistics services for the Red Dog Mine, a world-class zinc mine located in Alaska, 100 miles north of the Arctic Circle. Our services include hauling ore concentrates, transporting freight, and fuel transport operations. DeLong Mountain Logistics is a partnership between NANA Regional Corporation and Lynden Logistics.

What you will be doing:

• Wash and clean company vehicles, tractors and trailers and other equipment
• Assist in receiving, inventorying and stocking parts
• Assist mechanics as needed
• Assist with paperwork and creating repair records
• Operate company skid steer/pickups. Training will be provided on operation of company skid steer/pick-ups
• Maintain housekeeping in the shop and around shop areas
• Complete all assigned tasks in a timely manner
• Regular attendance and punctuality are essential
• Adheres strictly to the Company’s safety policies.

What we need from you (minimum requirements):

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED), preferred.
• Must be able to work rotating shifts, days or nights as required.
• Able to frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds and occasionally lift and occasionally move up to 100 pounds.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

• A valid driver’s license, or the ability to obtain one.
• MSHA certification is preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The Red Dog Mine is a remote location with rotational schedules. Lodging and meals are provided to those working on site. The successful candidate must be able and willing to work at a remote site for up to four weeks at a time and may be required to work different shifts during the scheduled rotation.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
