Quality Repair Solutions (QRS) in Geismar, LA is seeking an energetic Mechanic 1 to join our diesel repair team. You will perform preventive maintenance, inspections and repairs on tractor and trailer units in accordance with DOT and company standards.

Responsibilities include diagnosing issues, replacing worn parts, performing 90‑day inspections, and ensuring FHWA compliance. You will use welding as needed, document labor in our maintenance software, and work in a safety‑minded, fast‑paced shop.

Job Summary:

Responsible for performing preventative maintenance, special inspections and general repairs on tractor and trailer units in accordance with DOT, federal and state regulations and company standards. Determines the overall mechanical condition of tractors, trailers and associated equipment, diagnoses component malfunctions and initiates repair actions. Repairs components by replacing worn or damaged parts with new or reconditioned parts. Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, brakes, hubs, bearings, seals, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, steering, hydraulics; control linkages, clutches, and traction units. Use a welder to make repairs as needed. Uses technical publications or automated systems in maintaining vehicles to prescribed manufacturers’ maintenance schedules and for researching parts. Properly annotates all maintenance and labor performed in maintenance management software.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma, completion of G.E.D., or equivalent vocational school preferred, but not required.
• Experience diagnosing and repairing tractors and trailers.
• Dynamic, ambitious and engaged team player.
