Job summary

Quality Repair Solutions (QRS) is seeking an energetic Trailer Mechanic in Fort Worth, TX. You will diagnose, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on semi-truck trailers and tractors, with duties ranging from brake work to electrical troubleshooting, all while adhering to safety standards and documenting work in our maintenance software.

This full-time role operates Sunday-Thursday, 10pm-7am, with benefits and opportunities across our locations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent or vocational training.
• Experience diagnosing and repairing tractors and trailers.
• Ability to learn vehicle and equipment theory for diesel engines and hydraulics.
• Must follow DOT rules, safety standards and company policies.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair tractors and trailers.
• Perform annual/90-day inspections on equipment as required.
• Ensure equipment meets FHWA federal standards.
• Operate a yard hostler to move trailers within the yard and shop.
• Identify parts and supplies as needed.
• Follow OSHA safety and environmental policies for hazardous waste.
• Keep work area clean and safe to protect equipment longevity.
• Operate welding equipment as needed.

Job Summary

Responsible for diagnosing, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on semi-truck trailers and tractors, including tasks like brake adjustments, tire replacements, electrical troubleshooting, basic structural repairs, and more, all while working out of a service truck and adhering to strict safety regulations; general repairs on tractor and trailer units in accordance with DOT, federal and state regulations and company standards. Uses technical publications or automated systems in maintaining vehicles to prescribed manufacturers’ maintenance schedules and for researching parts. Properly annotates all maintenance and labor performed in maintenance management software.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair tractors and trailers.
• Perform annual/systematic 90 day inspections on equipment as required.
• Ensure equipment meets Federal FHWA standards.
• Operate a yard hostler truck to move trailers within the facility yard and the shop as needed.
• Be able to identify parts and supplies as needed.
• Adhere to all established safety (OSHA) and environmental policies and standards to include identification, use, and proper procedures for handling or disposal of hazardous waste.
• Clean, organize and maintain the work environment to ensure equipment longevity and workplace safety.
• Use welding equipment.

Requirements

Skills and Abilities

• Able to learn and demonstrate vehicle and equipment theory, principles and repair relating to diesel engines, air, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
• Able to learn and demonstrate tractor and trailer maintenance, DOT rules and regulations, company policies and procedures.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent vocational school required
• Experience diagnosing and repairing tractors and trailers.
