Job summary

Waukesha County Central Fleet is hiring a Mechanic to repair and maintain equipment that supports critical County operations, including Public Works, Sheriff's, and Parks. This first‑shift, Monday through Friday position provides tools, uniforms, and reimbursements for safety items.

  • Post-high school training in mechanical maintenance may substitute for up to one year of experience.
  • Valid driver’s license required; Class A CDL with airbrake endorsement within six months.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain equipment that supports County operations.
  • Work across departments including Public Works, Sheriff's, and Parks.
  • Perform routine maintenance to ensure reliability of fleet assets.

Job Summary

Salary Range: $28.87 - $40.11

Waukesha County Central Fleet is hiring a Mechanic to repair and maintain the equipment that supports critical County operations, including the Public Works, Sheriff's, and Parks departments. This is a first‑shift, Monday through Friday position. The County provides all tools, uniforms, and reimbursements for items such as work boots and safety glasses.

Minimum Training & Experience Requirements
  1. High School Diploma or GED.
  2. Three (3) years of experience in the major overhaul and repair of diesel and gasoline powered vehicles and equipment.
  3. Recognized post high school training directly in mechanical maintenance may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to one (1) year’s work experience.
  4. Valid driver’s license.
  5. Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License with airbrake endorsement within six (6) months of employment.
