Job summary

VCI is seeking a Mechanic in Holbrook, NY to diagnose, repair, and maintain light-duty trucks and emergency vehicles. You will install mechanical systems, service suspensions, and ensure compliance with industry guidelines, while keeping accurate records and maintaining a safe shop.

Requirements include ownership of tools, a valid state license, and experience in automotive diagnostics. CDL-B with air brake is a plus and a clean driving record is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with 2+ years in an electrical automotive environment or equivalent.
• Proficiency in automotive mechanical systems, diagnostics and repair.
• CDL B with air brake and bus endorsement is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain light-duty trucks or emergency vehicles.

• Inspect and repair engine performance, brakes, cooling, ignition, hydraulic and electrical systems.

Primary Function:

This position is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining light duty trucks or emergency vehicles.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform intermediate maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on light-duty trucks and emergency vehicles.
• Install and service mechanical systems, suspension components and drivetrains.
• Inspect, troubleshoot and repair engine performance, brakes, cooling systems, ignition systems, hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Maintain and repair new vehicle set up
• Responsible for maintaining shop equipment and a clean and safe work area
• Ensure all work complies with DOT, NFPA, and other regulatory guidelines as required.
• Maintain accurate service records and follow company and industry safety standards.
• Manage and report time on tasks.
• Wash, clean and prep new vehicles for service.
• All other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Applicants must have their own tools and a valid state license.
• Proficiency in automotive mechanical systems, diagnostics and repair.
• Ensure all work complies with Triple KKK standards.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment a plus.

Experience:

High School Diploma or GED and at least 2 years of experience in an electrical automotive environment or equivalent experience. Proficient in all intermediate repair disciplines (welding, carpentry, fabrication, knowledge of air brakes systems. etc.) and have a willingness to learn new systems as they relate to emergency vehicles. Driver’s license CDL B with air brake and bus endorsement a plus.
