Job description

General Summary

The Golf Course Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and overall performance of all golf course equipment and machinery. This role ensures that mowers, utility vehicles, small engines, and other turf equipment are operating safely and efficiently to support daily course operations.

Primary Job Functions
  • Learn and apply the company’s standard operating procedures.
  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair small engines, diesel and gas equipment, hydraulic systems, and electrical components.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on mowers, carts, tractors, and other turf equipment; sharpen and grind reels and bed knives to maintain optimal cutting performance.
  • Maintain accurate service records and parts inventory.
  • Ensure all equipment meets safety standards and operates reliably.
  • Assist in ordering parts and inventory supplies as needed.
  • Keep the shop area clean, organized, and compliant with safety regulations.
  • Preventive maintenance responsibility of the building such plumbing, light electrical and painting.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment.
  • When applicable, greet members and guests throughout the property.
  • Understand and anticipate the needs of the department and property.
  • Follow up as required and communicate in a timely manner.
  • Be an active participant in events, programs, meetings and training.
  • Represent the club in a professional manner through image, dress, communication, and immediate follow-through and response.
  • Schedule varies and may require weekend and holiday hours, days and evenings.
Qualifications
  • Experience with small engine repair and turf equipment maintenance preferred.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues efficiently.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of mechanic experience preferred.
  • Professional, friendly manner and excellent customer service attitude and abilities.
  • Strong verbal communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Enthusiastic, responsible, and dependable team player.
  • Self‑motivated, takes initiative, anticipates the needs of others and willing to acquire new skills.
Skills & Knowledge

Ability to read, understand, analyze, and interpret general training manuals, professional journals, or technical procedures; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from children, managers, associates, members, and the general public.

Ability to identify problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
