Job summary

FirstOption Workforce Solutions is seeking an experienced heavy equipment mechanic in San Antonio to service highway infrastructure and oil/gas machinery. You will perform electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical repairs, plus preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.

Schedule is 7 am–5 pm, Monday–Friday with weekends off. Pay is $25–$30 per hour. Company emphasizes safety, steady work, and hands-on learning in a long-standing, family-owned environment.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of heavy equipment repair experience (electrical, hydraulic preferred).
• Must pass drug test and background check.
• Reliable transportation and own tools/toolbox required.
• Excellent customer service skills and ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical repairs as well as preventative maintenance
• Troubleshoot issues with heavy equipment engines
• Determine what parts and tools are necessary to make repairs
• Complete shop paperwork
• Maintain a clean and safe work area
• Perform routine maintenance on machinery or automotive vehicles
• Inspect machines for faulty parts
• Analyze and diagnose mechanical issues
• Create a plan of action for all repairs
• Follow checklists and protocols while conducting repairs
• Regularly clean and maintain tools and equipment
• Ensure a safe, organized, and tidy workspace
• Input, track and maintain all maintenance data and records
• Keep machinery is in good working condition
• Track inventory and order new parts when required

Requirements

• Must pass drug test
• Must pass background check
• Must have reliable transportation
• 2 to 5 years of experience with heavy equipment repair in electrical and hydraulic work preferred
• Familiarity with common mechanic's tools, service, and diagnostic equipment
• Ability to work in uncomfortable, physically demanding positions, stand on one's feet for prolonged periods, and lift up to 50 pounds at a time
• Computer literate
• Excellent customer service skills
• Bilingual is preferred
• Must have your own tools/tool box

Schedule

• 7 am to 5pm
• Monday to Friday (closed weekends)

Pay Rate
