Job summary

Henkels & McCoy, Inc. (H&M) is seeking a skilled Mechanic for our Salem, Illinois location to repair and maintain field and construction fleet equipment including pickups, bucket trucks, dozers, excavators, backhoes, trailers, and loaders.

The role requires 3+ years as a mechanic, 100% travel, and experience with air brakes, welding, and fabrication. You will troubleshoot electrical systems, install Zonar telematics, and perform hydraulic and engine repairs with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• Requires at least 3 years experience as a mechanic or service technician.
• 100% travel required with travel expenses reimbursed.
• Experience repairing air brakes; certification preferred but not required.
• Experienced in welding and small fabrication.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs and walk long distances on uneven surfaces.
• Overtime may be required with short or same-day notice.
• Class A CDL preferred; Fifth wheel endorsement a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and maintenance of fleet vehicles in the field and at construction sites.
• Routine maintenance and service of fleet vehicles; document PM reports and repair logs.
• Work with brands: Ford, Peterbilt, John Deere, Altec, Terex, Versalift, International, Cat and Vermeer.
• Utilize laptop, smart devices and software as a tool of the trade.
• Electrical troubleshooting experience is required.
• Install and maintain telematics equipment such as Zonar.
• Hydraulic and engine repairs; air brake repairs; chassis repairs.
• Repair of construction-type fleet equipment and aerial devices.
• Must be able to work with minimum supervision.
• Field welding and fabrication on dirt and rock engagement equipment.

Responsibilities

Job Summary:

This position is located at our Salem Illinois Location.

The experienced Mechanic will perform repairs and maintenance of fleet vehicles in the field and at construction sites. Our fleet includes pick-ups, bucket trucks, digger derricks, dozers, trenchers, excavators, backhoes, trailers and loaders and other related utility construction equipment.

• Routine maintenance and service of fleet vehicles at assigned intervals.
• Documentation of PM reports & equipment repair logs.
• Ford, Peterbilt, John Deere, Altec, Terex, Versalift, International, Cat and Vermeer experience.
• Ability to utilize laptop, smart devices and software as a tool of the trade.
• Need electrical troubleshooting experience.
• Be able to install and maintain telematics equipment such as Zonar.
• Hydraulic and engine repairs.
• Air brake repairs.
• Chassis repairs.
• Repair of construction type fleet equipment and vehicles (including all phases of aerial device repairs).
• Must be able to work with minimum supervision.
• Field welding and fabrication on dirt and rock engagement equipment

Pay Rate-$35-40/hr based on experience
