Job summary

Henkels & McCoy, Inc. (H&M) in Pennsylvania is seeking a skilled diesel mechanic to inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel engines, hydraulics, transmissions, brakes, and related systems on our heavy equipment fleet.

You will perform routine maintenance, engine overhauls, component replacements, and field repairs, maintain service records, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations. A trade qualification in diesel mechanics and relevant experience are required.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a diesel mechanic, preferably in a construction or heavy equipment environment.
  • Trade qualification in diesel mechanics or heavy vehicle maintenance (e.g., Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent).
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and construction machinery.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic software and mechanical tools.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Physical ability to work in demanding environments and lift heavy components.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends or on-call, as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical and electrical issues in diesel engines, hydraulics, transmissions, brakes, and other systems.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and servicing to prevent equipment breakdowns and ensure safe operation.
  • Perform engine overhauls, component replacements, and welding or fabrication when necessary.
  • Use diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot issues accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain detailed service records and ensure all work complies with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns on job sites and perform field repairs when needed.
  • Collaborate with operators, supervisors, and other mechanics to prioritize and complete repairs quickly.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the workshop and adhere to health and safety protocols.
