Job summary

Henkels & McCoy, Inc. (H&M) is a leading utility construction firm with nationwide projects in power, oil & gas, and telecom sectors. The Salem, Illinois location seeks an experienced Mechanic to maintain and repair fleet vehicles in the field and on site, including bucket trucks and excavators.

The ideal candidate has minimum 3 years as a mechanic, strong diesel and hydraulic repair skills, and the ability to travel as needed. CDL-A is preferred but not required, with safety as a core value.

Qualifications

• 3+ years experience as a mechanic or service technician.
• Experience repairing diesel engines and hydraulic systems.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and walk on uneven surfaces.
• CDL-A preferred but not required.
• Travel 100% with reimbursed expenses.

Responsibilities

• Routine maintenance and service of fleet vehicles at scheduled intervals.
• Documentation of PM reports and repair logs.
• Experience with Ford, Peterbilt, John Deere, Altec, Terex, Versalift, International, Cat and Vermeer equipment.
• Operate laptops and smart devices and use software as a trade tool.
• Electrical troubleshooting.
• Install and maintain telematics equipment such as Zonar.
• Hydraulic and engine repairs.
• Air brake repairs.
• Chassis repairs.
• Repair of construction fleet equipment and aerial devices.
• Work with minimal supervision.
• Field welding and fabrication on rugged equipment.

Job Summary

This position is located at our Salem Illinois Location.

The experienced Mechanic will perform repairs and maintenance of fleet vehicles in the field and at construction sites. Our fleet includes pick-ups, bucket trucks, digger derricks, dozers, trenchers, excavators, backhoes, trailers and loaders and other related utility construction equipment.

Responsibilities

• Routine maintenance and service of fleet vehicles at assigned intervals.
• Documentation of PM reports & equipment repair logs.
• Ford, Peterbilt, John Deere, Altec, Terex, Versalift, International, Cat and Vermeer experience.
• Ability to utilize laptop, smart devices and software as a tool of the trade.
• Need electrical troubleshooting experience.
• Be able to install and maintain telematics equipment such as Zonar.
• Hydraulic and engine repairs.
• Air brake repairs.
• Chassis repairs.
• Repair of construction type fleet equipment and vehicles (including all phases of aerial device repairs).
• Must be able to work with minimum supervision.
• Field welding and fabrication on dirt and rock engagement equipment

Qualifications

• Requires experience repairing diesel engines and hydraulic systems.
• 100% travel required (travel expenses are reimbursed)
• Requires experience repairing air brakes; certification is preferred but not required.
• Experienced in welding and small fabrication.
• Must have at least 3 years experience working as a mechanic or service technician.
• Ability to lift 50LBs.
• Ability to walk – sometimes long distances over uneven and wet surfaces.
• The ability to work over time when required, sometimes with short/same day notice.
• Class" A" CDL preferred. Fifth wheel endorsement a plus.

Pay Rate-$35-40/hr based on experience
