Description

Port Elevator is a part of American Elevator Group (AEG), a collection of well-established elevator service companies operating across the United States. Backed by Arcline Investment Management, AEG has a significant footprint in the elevator industry and is rapidly growing. Due to growth, we are looking for experienced Construction Mechanics throughout central Pennsylvania, with our main office being located in New Columbia, PA. In this role, you will be installing and modernizing elevators from beginning to end.

As a Construction Mechanic, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repairs of elevators and other lifting equipment. You will be responsible for ensuring the safety and reliability of the equipment, as well as troubleshooting and resolving any mechanical issues that may arise. This involves skilled mechanical work and intricate control circuits.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect elevators of all types and makes, determine the cause of faulty operation, make repairs and adjustments, and troubleshoot problems.
  • Diagnose deficiency of equipment and make recommendations for major changes or requirements.
  • Install, maintain, and repair elevators, escalators, and other lifting equipment.
  • Analyze and repair failures, especially in emergency situations.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues.
  • Repair or replace defective parts.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure equipment is functioning properly.
  • Respond to emergency repair calls in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of all repairs and maintenance performed.
  • Provide excellent customer service to building owners and occupants.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • State and/or city issued Mechanic’s license as required.
  • Completion of an apprenticeship program or technical school training in elevator repair.
  • Minimum of 4 years of elevator experience.
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and building codes.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy equipment and work in confined spaces.
  • Valid driver's license.

Work Environment & Hazards:

  • Work in a variety of settings, including commercial buildings, hospitals, airports, and residential complexes.
  • May involve working at heights or in confined spaces.
  • Hazards may include electrical shock, falls, and exposure to hazardous chemicals.

Special Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift heavy equipment up to fifty pounds (50lbs) or more, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
  • May require standing for prolonged periods of time and working in awkward positions.
