Job summary

New Weds Foods in Pendleton, Oregon, is seeking a Mechanic to perform preventative maintenance and emergency repairs on production machinery as part of the maintenance team. This 2nd shift role runs from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM and focuses on improving equipment reliability and glove quality.

The position requires an Associate degree in Maintenance Technology or equivalent, plus 1–5 years of food manufacturing experience and strong knowledge of GMP and OSHA standards.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Maintenance Technology or equivalent
• 1-5 years of food manufacturing experience
• Knowledge of maintenance jargon and best practices; OSHA, safety
• Proven ability to work in a team environment
• GMP/production knowledge

Responsibilities

• Perform machine set up and repair for assembly and packaging equipment.
• Carry out preventative maintenance routines on all production equipment.
• Install, debug and stabilize plant equipment as required.
• Assist in Production/Maintenance related assignments as needed.
• Communicate issues and solve problems with Production staff regarding quality and safety concerns.
• Record maintenance data per Maintenance Manager, e.g., work orders and time cards.
• Identify and report equipment concerns to the Maintenance Manager.
• Participate in overtime assignments as needed.
• Provide on-call coverage as needed.
• Climb stairs and ladders; work at heights as required.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Manager.
• Flex schedule to cover absences and business needs

Essential Functions:

• Perform machine set up and repair assembly and packaging equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance routines on all production equipment.

• Perform other various similar and related duties as required by the Manager.

Qualifications:

• Associates Degree in Maintenance Technology field and or equivalent Education, Experience and Training.
• 1-5 years Food Manufacturing experience preferred.
• Through knowledge of Maintenance jargon, Maintenance Best Practices Knowledge; OSHA, safety, etc.
• Proven ability to work in a team environment
• Working knowledge of GMP, OSHA and Production needs.

Work Environment:

The job is performed in production areas where the person will be exposed to strong aromas, airborne dust particles emanating from ingredients being used, and will be in the presence of or otherwise operating machinery.
