Job summary

Newly Weds Foods in Pendleton, OR is seeking a Mechanic to perform preventative maintenance and emergency repairs on production machinery as part of the maintenance team. This 2nd shift role runs 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm and emphasizes reliability, safety, and glove quality improvements.

Responsibilities include equipment setup, routine PMs, installing and debugging plant equipment, recording maintenance data, and communicating issues with production staff.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Maintenance Technology or equivalent.
• 1-5 years of food manufacturing experience preferred.
• Knowledge of GMP, OSHA, and maintenance best practices.
• Proven ability to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Set up and repair assembly and packaging equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance on all production equipment.
• Install, debug and stabilize plant equipment.
• Record maintenance data and monitor equipment performance.
• Communicate issues and safety concerns to Production staff and Maintenance Manager.
• Provide on-call coverage and overtime as needed.

Essential Functions:

• Perform machine set up and repair assembly and packaging equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance routines on all production equipment.
• Install, debug and stabilize plant equipment as required.
• Assist in Production/Maintenance related assignments as needed.
• Communicate regarding issues and problem solve with Production staff any quality and safety concerns.
• Record maintenance data as directed by the Maintenance Manager to monitor equipment performance, i.e. work orders, time cards
• Identify and report equipment concerns to the Maintenance Manager.
• Participate in overtime assignments as required.
• Provide “on call” coverage as needed.
• Ability to climb stairs, ladders ability to work atheights.
• Perform other various similar and related duties as required by the Manager.
• Ability to flex schedule to cover absences and business needs

Qualifications:

• Associates Degree in Maintenance Technology field and or equivalent Education, Experience and Training.
• 1-5 years Food Manufacturing experience preferred.
• Through knowledge of Maintenance jargon, Maintenance Best Practices Knowledge; OSHA, safety, etc.
• Proven ability to work in a team environment
• Working knowledge of GMP, OSHA and Production needs.

Work Environment:

The job is performed in production areas where the person will be exposed to strong aromas, airborne dust particles emanating from ingredients being used, and will be in the presence of or otherwise operating machinery.
