Street Department

The Orrville Street Department is seeking applicants for an immediate opening as a mechanic.

Work involves skilled tasks in the mechanical repair, rebuilding, and maintenance of automobiles, heavy diesel trucks, emergency vehicles, fire trucks, tractors, bulldozers, rollers, and other standard and specialized equipment. Work includes diagnosing problems and determining methods of repair based on oral instructions or written orders. The work is performed under the supervision of the Superintendent. Employees may be called in for emergencies. The pay range is $30.42 to $38.05 per hour, plus benefits.

Qualifications:

• Applicants must be at least 18 years old and possess a high school diploma or equivalent, supplemented by vocational training.
• Considerable experience as a diesel automotive mechanic, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Possession of a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is required.
• Ohio Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) Certification is preferred but not required.
