Job summary

Ash Grove Cement Company is seeking a mechanic to inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical issues across machinery and mobile equipment. You will use diagnostic tools and practical expertise to identify problems and perform repairs or part replacements as needed.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, PM program development, and coordination with engineers and technicians. You may be on-call and must keep work areas safe and organized while ensuring timely project completion.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Vocational/technical training or associate degree is a plus.
  • 1+ year of relevant field experience preferred.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively across the organization and work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Identify problems with machinery or mobile equipment using diagnostic tools and knowledge of mechanical systems.
  • Perform repairs or replace parts as needed and develop PM programs.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and adhere to safety standards.
  • Generate and close work orders in the operating systems and collaborate with engineers and technicians.

Job Summary

A mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing mechanical issues in machinery or mobile equipment. They use diagnostic tools and their own expertise to identify problems, and then perform repairs or replace parts as needed.

Job Responsibilities
  • Accurately identify problems with machinery or mobile equipment using diagnostic tools and their own knowledge of mechanical systems

Perform repairs or replace parts as necessary

Perform preventive maintenance and develop PM programs to keep machinery and mobile equipment running smoothly and prevent future issues

Generates work orders and closes them in operating systems

Refer to and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics to understand the layout and function of various mechanical systems

Use wide range of tools, from simple wrenches and screwdrivers to more complex diagnostic equipment and power tools

May work independently or as part of a team, collaborating with other mechanics, engineers, and technicians to complete projects

Must keep work area clean and organized to ensure safety and efficiency

May be required to be on-call

Install equipment and machinery as needed.

Regular attendance, timeliness, and scheduling flexibility

  • Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent

Vocational or technical training certificate or associate’s degree in related field a plus

At least 1 year of experience in a relevant field

Ability to communicate and interact effectively with various levels of the organization

Ability to work independently or as part of a team

Must have technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, manual dexterity, and attention to detail

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and other pertinent operating systems

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
