Job description

Penn Life Sciences is seeking a skilled and reliable Mechanic to join our team in Langhorne, PA.

The Mechanic will perform mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, and equipment changeovers in support of sterile pharmaceutical manufacturing operations. This role is critical to maintaining equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and ensuring compliance with cGMP, FDA, and safety requirements. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude, experience supporting manufacturing equipment, and the ability to work effectively in a regulated pharmaceutical environment.

This position’s responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:
  • Perform mechanical maintenance, repair, and adjustment of manufacturing and facility equipment to ensure reliable and compliant operation.
  • Execute equipment changeovers, including product, size, and format changes, in accordance with approved SOPs and production requirements.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance activities per established schedules to support equipment reliability, uptime, and manufacturing readiness.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions to minimize downtime.
  • Accurately complete maintenance documentation, including equipment logs, work orders, and CMMS entries, in compliance with ALCOA+ principles.
  • Support equipment installations, inspections, and modifications in coordination with Engineering, Production, and Quality teams.
We are looking for applicants with:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in mechanical maintenance or industrial equipment preferred.
  • Minimum of 2–5 years of hands‑on mechanical maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Prior experience working in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other cGMP‑regulated manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain manufacturing equipment.
  • Working knowledge of cGMPs, safety requirements, and Good Documentation Practices.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow SOPs, technical manuals, and maintenance procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to complete documentation accurately and contemporaneously.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionally.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain gowning qualification for controlled manufacturing environments.
