Job summary

Communication Data Link in Grimes, IA is seeking a hands-on Mechanic to join our shop and grow with the company. You will inspect, diagnose, and repair vehicles, perform maintenance, and support equipment reliability.

Responsibilities

• Determine vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests
• Perform preventive maintenance and upgrades; manage corrosion and winterization
• Repair major assemblies and systems and adjust components as needed
• Verify performance through test drives and data collection
• Maintain vehicle records and service history
• Assist in parts inventory and cost control
• Support DOT inspections and maintain a clean work area
• Assist in transporting vehicles/equipment as required

Communication Data Link is looking for a Mechanic to join our shop. We are looking for individuals that are looking to continue growing their career and are willing to learn and grow with our company. We will provide as much training as needed to help you succeed in this role.

• Experience in brakes, electrical, hydraulics, pneumatic, diesel systems

JOB DUTIES:

• Determine vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests to identify worn and damaged parts.
• Keep equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance, installing component and part upgrades, controlling corrosion, and completing winterization procedures
• Correct vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, power and drive trains,electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics, and making adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units
• Verify vehicle performance by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems
• Maintain vehicle records by annotating services and repairs
• Contain costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options
• Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt
• Enhance maintenance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
• Perform annual DOT Inspections
• Keep work area, tools and shop equipment clean, organized and in good working condition
• Assist in picking up and/or delivering vehicles and equipment to the shop

Communication Data Link is operating out of Grimes, IA.

WORK SCHEDULE

Monday- Friday 7:00am- 5:00 pm Weekend work may be required with little or no notice Work schedule is also determined by season, weather, deadlines, and availability of work. Year-Round Work
