Job summary

Sagepoint Energy is seeking an on-call Mechanic to perform maintenance on a dairy-based RNG facility in Greenleaf, Wisconsin. You will inspect, repair, and optimize a wide range of equipment, while documenting work and coordinating with operations to minimize downtime.

You will operate MEWPs and light vehicles, work in confined spaces when needed, and participate in required trainings while adhering to safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in an applicable field or 3+ years' experience.
  • General mechanical aptitude required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Satisfactory motor vehicle record required.
  • Basic computer literacy for MS Office, CMMS, and procurement systems.
  • Industrial Safe Work Practices incl. Lock-out/Tag-out and hot work.
  • Experience with rotating and stationary equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to read drawings, P&IDs, electrical diagrams, and IOM manuals.
  • Experience programming/troubleshooting PLCs, VFDs, and SCADA.

Responsibilities

Job Title: Mechanic

Location: Greenleaf, WI

Pay Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt

Shifts Available: 2nd Shift (2:30p-11pm)

Job Summary

Performs various duties essential to the maintenance of a dairy-based, natural gas production facility which utilizes mechanical and biological systems to process cow manure into renewable natural gas (RNG). These duties include monitoring, repairing, maintaining, and optimizing a wide variety of assets and systems located at the assigned facility. This position will include participation in an on-call rotation and may require work outside normal business hours. On-call Mechanics are required to live not further than a 45-minute drive from their assigned facility. Direct supervision may be limited.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs all duties in a manner that is safe, compliant, and efficient as well as productive.
  • Conducts the full range of maintenance activities required at the assigned facility. These include (but are not limited to): all routine maintenance, non-routine maintenance, and repairs for stationary equipment such as buildings, tanks, and piping as well as for rotating equipment like valves with manual, electric, or pneumatic operators; submersible and long-axial mixers, centrifugal and positive displacement pumps and blowers; both screw- and piston compressors in either air or biogas service; hydraulic pumps and electric motors; and a variety of both mechanical and electronic instrumentation and analytical equipment including level indicators, flow meters, gas detectors, gas chromatographs and spectrometers.
  • Inspect equipment in accordance with operating standards and preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of maintenance tasks including parts used, work completed, and time spent.
  • Coordinate with operations staff to minimize downtime and ensure safety during repairs and equipment servicing.
  • Operates offroad utility vehicles such as skid steers, loaders, forklifts, and UTV's, as well as light trucks inside and outside of the facility as needed.
  • Conducts elevated work and/or confined space entries as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations/requirements.
  • Participates and engages in all required training, both in-person sessions and remote learning modules, in all required fields. Training topics may include various safe work practices and protocols and equipment operation and maintenance as well as company specific procedures, policies, and processes.
  • Adheres to every safety policy and procedure. These will include procedures for: control of hazardous energy (Lock-out/Tag-out), incident reporting, spill response, fire response, confined space entry, hazardous atmosphere operations, hot work, safe electrical work, and others.
  • Comfortable with some overtime hours and on-call hours

Education/Experience is required when indicated, desired otherwise.

  • Undergraduate degree in an applicable field, e.g., maintenance or engineering (electrical, mechanical, or industrial) or 3+ years' experience in the same.

  • Programming & troubleshooting PLC's, VFD's, and SCADA.
Physical Demand

Field work will include work outside and exposed to the weather, high elevations, confined spaces, electrical components, both stationary and rotating equipment, manure and other agricultural wastes, gases and liquids that are compressed/pressurized, toxic, caustic, or acidic, and/or flammable, dust, exposure to high heat/cold weather, high winds, and high noise.

Satisfactory performance of the essential duties of this job will require standing, kneeling, sitting, and walking as well as fine motor skills (especially of the hands) and the extended reach of arms. Work Environment

The duties of this job will include working both in an office environment and outdoors in the year-round weather as well as inside industrial spaces with operating machinery. Exposure to high heat and high humidity as well as cold weather and high winds can be expected. This job also includes potential exposure to high noise, fumes or airborne particles, chemicals, acids and caustic chemicals, flammable and/or poisonous atmospheres, hot surfaces/equipment, cold surfaces/equipment, high vibrations, confined spaces, elevated working surfaces, vehicle traffic, and animal manure.

Compensation

Salary is paid on a bi-weekly basis and will be consummate with the value and experience the candidate brings to the role. In addition to base salary, compensation includes the option to participate in company sponsored medical, dental, vision insurance plans and in a retirement savings program, paid personal time off and holidays. You will also be eligible for a monthly bonus and participation in the employee Long-Term Incentive plan.
