Job summary

Ruppert Landscape is seeking a Mechanic to join our in-house fleet team in Gainesville, VA. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of diesel and gasoline equipment, trucks, mowers, and power tools, ensuring safety and reliability for our field operations.

Requirements include at least one year of hands-on mechanical experience, strong technical aptitude, and the ability to supply your own tools. We value clear communication, safety, and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Safety-first mindset and adherence to safety regulations.
  • At least 1 year of hands-on mechanical experience.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with gas/diesel vehicles and landscaping equipment.
  • Ability to supply personal tools as needed.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Keen attention to detail and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair fleet vehicles and equipment, including mowers, trucks, trailers, and power equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and ensure equipment meets safety and company standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop.
  • Document service and repair records accurately.
  • Provide excellent internal customer service and teamwork.
  • Support other operational tasks as assigned.

Where You Fit In

As a Mechanic on our in-house fleet team, you will play a critical role in maintaining and servicing a wide range of vehicles and equipment, including diesel/gas trucks, commercial mowers, and two-cycle equipment. This role is essential in upholding our company's image and keeping our operations teams working safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and perform repairs and preventative maintenance on a variety of fleet vehicles and equipment, including power equipment, mowers, trucks, trailers, and other landscape tools
  • Recondition vehicles and equipment twice a year to ensure they meet company image standards and are safe, reliable, and ready for use
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment
  • Accurately document and maintain service and repair records
  • Provide exceptional internal customer service, prioritizing efficiency, quality, and communication
  • Assist with other operational tasks as assigned
Qualifications:

  • Minimum of one year of hands-on mechanical experience
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, especially with gas/diesel vehicles and landscaping equipment
  • Ability to supply personal tools as needed to perform the role

  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Keen attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality
  • Experience with diesel engines and bilingual ability (English/Spanish) are preferred but not required
Reports To: Shop Manager
Hourly Compensation: $25-30/hour (depending on qualifications and experience)
