Job summary

Ruppert Landscape is seeking a Lead Technician & Engine Mechanic to join our in-house fleet team in the Lorton, VA area. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain a range of fleet vehicles and equipment—including diesel/gas trucks and landscape tools—while upholding safety standards and supporting operations across our projects.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of hands-on mechanical experience, strong aptitude with power equipment, and a safety-first mindset.

Qualifications

• Safety-first mindset and adherence to safety regulations.
• 3–5 years of hands-on mechanical experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with gas/diesel vehicles and landscaping equipment.
• Must be able to supply personal tools as needed.
• Bilingual ability in English/Spanish preferred but not required.
• Positive attitude with willingness to learn and grow in the organization.
• Strong communication and organizational skills; keen attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair fleet vehicles and equipment (power equipment, mowers, trucks, trailers).
• Recondition vehicles twice a year to meet safety and image standards.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environment.
• Document and maintain service/repair records accurately.
• Provide exceptional internal customer service and effective communication.
• Assist with other operational tasks as assigned.
