Sunrise Transportation in Crestwood, IL is seeking a Mechanic to perform preventative maintenance and diagnostics on gasoline/diesel engines, under the Service Manager. The role includes safety inspections, working on bus safety systems, and maintaining fleet systems.

Sunrise Transportation is a rapidly growing, private equity-backed transportation company and is currently hiring a Mechanic at our Crestwood, IL location with experience working on gasoline and/or diesel engines. HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

We are currently looking for a Mechanic who will work under the direction of the Service Manager, performing preventative maintenance, safety inspections, diagnostics, and repairs.

What we'll trust you with:

• Perform preventative inspections and general maintenance, including fluid changes, brakes, and tires.
• Prepare vehicles for IDOT inspections.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair engines and engine components.
• Inspect and maintain bus safety systems, including 8-way lighting, stop arms, and crosswalk systems.
• Maintain camera and GPS systems.
• Maintain and process work orders.
• Assist with maintaining a safe, reliable, and road-ready fleet.

What matters most for this role:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree is a plus.
• Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel objects, reach with hands or arms, and talk or hear.
• Frequently required to sit.
• Occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and smell.
• Must be able to work in extreme heat and cold and in a damp environment with moderate noise.
• May be exposed to water, fumes, chemicals, and other materials commonly found in a maintenance environment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Experience with maintenance software programs or related systems is a plus.
• Wheelchair lift or hydraulic systems experience is a plus.
• Must be able to successfully pass a background check and drug test.

Competencies:

• Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Possess a valid Illinois driver's license.
• One or more years of experience with engine diagnostics and general automotive maintenance.
• Experience working with school bus bodies is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to safety, quality, and detail.
