Job summary

Northern Tool is seeking a qualified Mechanic to service and repair customer-bring-in equipment. You will source and order parts, diagnose engines, and communicate findings clearly to customers while maintaining safety and high service standards.

The role emphasizes building strong customer relations, professionalism, and contributing to a positive work environment. A history of small engine repair and knowledge of relevant brands is expected.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience repairing small engines.
• Ability to clearly explain diagnosis and repair to customers.
• Adherence to safety procedures while performing repairs.
• Ability to work respectfully within a team environment.
• Uphold integrity and company values while delivering quality service.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
• Knowledge of small engine theory (2- and 4-stroke).
• Certifications in major brands (Honda, Kohler, Briggs & Stratton).
• Master certification is a plus.
• Experience with electrical systems, pumps, hydraulics, and diagnostic equipment.

Your number one priority as a Mechanic will be to service and repair products that are brought to the store for repair. The Mechanic promotes strong customer relations, a positive work environment and is also responsible for sourcing and ordering parts. Role Specific Details

• Schedule Requirements: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM

Key Responsibilities

1. Source & order parts for customers.
2. Diagnose and repair small engines/equipment.
3. Maintain current knowledge of Northern Tool + Equipment's national and private label brands.
4. Completes all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments.

What you will bring to the table

• 1+ year of experience repairing and maintaining small engines.
• The skills to clearly explain the diagnosis and repair of the machine to the customer.
• The ability to recognize and observe all safety and security procedures.
• The desire to treat others with respect and contribute to building a positive team spirit.
• The drive to work with integrity, always upholding company values, while operating a profitable service business.
• Strong organizational skills and fluency with Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of small engine theory (2 and 4 stroke): lubrication, cooling, ignition and fuel systems.
• Certifications in major manufacture brands like Honda, Kohler, Briggs & Stratton, et al.
• Master certification is a plus!
• Extensive experience with electrical systems, plunger driven or axial pressure washer pumps and unloader systems, hydraulic theory, and associated diagnostic equipment and procedures.
