Job summary

UNC Finance and Operations is seeking a qualified automotive mechanic to participate in the repair and maintenance of a large fleet of UNC-owned and NC Motor Fleet vehicles. The role includes oil changes, tune-ups, electrical repairs, cooling system service, brakes, exhaust, transmission work, and engine overhauls while diagnosing computer-controlled systems.

A sign-on bonus is available and distributed in two installments within the first year of hire.

Qualifications

• Valid North Carolina driver’s license or ability to obtain one prior to start date.
• NC State Inspector's License or the ability to achieve certification within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Participates in repair and maintenance of 800+ vehicles and pieces of motorized equipment, UNC-owned and NC Motor Fleet.
• Includes oil changes and lubrication; tune-ups; replacement of electrical system components; cooling system service; brake service; exhaust work; transmission and clutch service.
• Diagnoses computer-controlled systems and performs repairs per industry standards.

$2,146.50 WITHIN 30 DAYS OF HIRE DATE & $2,146.50 12 MONTHS AFTER HIRE DATE.

Participates in the repair and maintenance of 800+ vehicles and pieces of motorized equipment, including UNC-owned and NC Motor Fleet vehicles. Work performed includes but is not limited to oil changes and lubrication; tune-ups; replacement of electrical system components; replacement of water, fuel, and power steering pumps; cooling system service; brake service; exhaust system repair/replacement; transmission and clutch service; complete engine overhaul; and computerized wheel balancing machine. Position also diagnoses computer-controlled systems and makes repairs that are consistent with industry standards.
