Job summary

TMS International is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our Cartersville, GA team. You will maintain, repair, and troubleshoot off-road heavy diesel equipment used in our steel-mill operations. Schedule: 7 Days On / 7 Days Off (Fri-Thu on, Fri-Thu off).

This full-time role requires at least 5 years of diesel mechanics experience and the ability to work in a heavy industry environment. Responsibilities include routine maintenance, diagnostics, inspections, documentation of labor and parts,

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in diesel mechanics.
• Experience with heavy equipment used in steel mills is a plus.
• Strong diagnostic skills and ability to read manuals and schematics.
• Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of diesel engines and systems on trucks, loaders, and forklifts.
• Conduct regular inspections to prevent issues and ensure safety compliance.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify problems and implement solutions for reliability.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance, parts used, and labor hours.
• Collaborate with maintenance staff and other departments to coordinate repairs and minimize downtime.
• Adhere to safety protocols and participate in safety trainings.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Cartersville, GA. This position is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of off-road heavy diesel equipment used in our operations.

Schedule: 7 Days On / 7 Days Off (Fri - Thursday on, Fri - Thursday off)

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of diesel engines and related systems, including hydraulic and pneumatic systems, in various types of equipment such as trucks, loaders, and forklifts.
• Inspection: Conduct regular inspections to identify and address potential issues before they result in equipment failure. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and manufacturer specifications.
• Diagnostics: Utilize diagnostic tools and techniques to identify problems with diesel engines and other mechanical systems. Develop and implement effective solutions to ensure equipment reliability and performance.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities, including parts used and labor hours. Report any additional maintenance needs or issues to management.
• Collaboration: Work closely with other maintenance staff and departments to coordinate repairs and minimize downtime. Provide technical support and guidance to less experienced team members as needed.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Participate in safety training and contribute to the development of safety initiatives.

Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Technical certification in Diesel Mechanics or related field preferred.
• Experience: 5 years of experience in diesel mechanics required. Experience with heavy equipment used in steel mills is a plus.
• Skills: Strong diagnostic skills and proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics. Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic systems is desirable.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy objects, work in confined spaces, and operate various tools and equipment. Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions typical of a steel mill.
