Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Frostproof, FL. This position is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of off-road heavy diesel equipment used in our operations.

Pay:$32–$35 per hour (based on experience)

Schedule: 7am to 3 pm / Monday – Friday (on call Saturday and Sunday)

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintenance and Repair:Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of diesel engines and related systems, including hydraulic and pneumatic systems, in various types of equipment such as trucks, loaders, and forklifts.
  • Inspection:Conduct regular inspections to identify and address potential issues before they result in equipment failure. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and manufacturer specifications.
  • Diagnostics:Utilize diagnostic tools and techniques to identify problems with diesel engines and other mechanical systems. Develop and implement effective solutions to ensure equipment reliability and performance.
  • Record Keeping:Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities, including parts used and labor hours. Report any additional maintenance needs or issues to management.
  • Collaboration:Work closely with other maintenance staff and departments to coordinate repairs and minimize downtime. Provide technical support and guidance to less experienced team members as needed.
  • Safety Compliance:Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Participate in safety training and contribute to the development of safety initiatives.
Qualifications:
  • Must have complete tools
  • Education:High school diploma or equivalent. Technical certification in Diesel Mechanics or related field preferred.
  • Experience:Minimum of 3 years of experience in diesel mechanics, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment. Experience with heavy equipment used in steel mills is a plus.
  • Skills:Strong diagnostic skills and proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics. Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic systems is desirable.
  • Physical Requirements:Ability to lift heavy objects, work in confined spaces, and operate various tools and equipment. Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions typical of a steel mill.
