Qualifications

Responsibilities
  1. Performs elevator installation and modernization work. Tests and adjusts safety features such as speed, acceleration, leveling, braking, emergency stop, and alarm bells.
  2. Installs/replaces electronic control panels, switches, relays, signal devices, electric motors, generators, and related equipment.
  3. Inspects, maintains, and repairs hoist motors, machinery, governors, door mechanisms, cables, hydraulic buffers, pumps, brakes, rails, guides, and related equipment.
  4. Reads and interprets blueprints to determine system layout and equipment needs.
  5. Assembles elevator cars, installing platforms, walls, and doors.
  6. Connects electrical wiring to control panels and motors.
  7. Tests new installations to ensure compliance with elevator codes.
  8. Troubleshoots malfunctions in brakes, motors, switches, and control systems.
  9. Dismantles elevator components to access and replace defective parts, using hoists, ladders, and tools.
  10. Repairs or replaces faulty components to restore elevator operation.
  11. Ability to travel weekly overnight stays, minimum 2 nights.
Minimum Qualifications

4+ years of experience as a Modernization or Construction elevator mechanic, ability to read blueprints and technical documents, experience with on-site installation, troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues.

Licenses Required
  • Valid driver's license
  • Maryland Mechanics License or ability to obtain within 60 days
  • West Virginia Mechanics License or ability to obtain within 60 days
Preferred Certifications
  • CET Certification or NEIEP Certification
