Job summary

New Seasons Market is seeking a Meat Clerk in Oregon to support the Meat and Seafood department. You will assist customers, prepare and present products, and keep cases stocked and organized while upholding safety and quality standards.

Ideal candidates have prior retail or grocery experience and basic knife skills. This role may require evening/weekend shifts consistent with store needs and a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• Previous customer service, food service, retail or grocery experience preferred.
• Basic knife skills preferred, with ability to learn and properly use knives in a commercial environment.
• Knowledge of retail Meat and Seafood departments / prior meat / butcher industry experience is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Prepares Meat and Seafood department for store opening and closing.
• Assists customers with product selection and provides product knowledge.
• Prepares, cuts, wraps, weighs, tares, prices and presents Meat and Seafood products.
• Stocks and maintains meat and seafood cases.
• Completes customer special orders and follows through as needed.
• Stocks, rotates and faces products with attention to quality and expiration dates.
• Handles damaged and spoiled products according to policy.
• Receives and unloads merchandise; checks quality, count and condition; reports issues.
• Maintains cleanliness, organization and rotation of areas and supplies.
• Maintains accurate pricing and signage meeting merchandising standards.
• Understands and complies with shift guidelines and responsibilities.
• Notifies management of any customer service, safety, productivity or security situations.
