Job summary

Hy-Vee in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Meat Clerk to provide prompt, friendly service in the Meat/Seafood Department. You will wrap, trim, stock cases, and receive merchandise while maintaining high sanitation and customer satisfaction.

Role requires standing, frequent lifting, and adherence to safety guidelines. You will work with team members to ensure accurate displays, rotate stock, and assist customers with product selection and queries.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; food safety training preferred.
• Six months or less of similar or related work.
• Willingness to learn and follow safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store.
• Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner, whether the encounter takes place in the employee's designated department or elsewhere in the store.
• Makes an effort to learn customers' names and to address them by name whenever possible.
• Assists customers by escorting them to the products they're looking for, securing products that are out of reach, loading or unloading heavy items, and passing along customer suggestions or requests.
• Performs other tasks to enhance the shopping experience.
• Answers the telephone promptly when called upon and provides friendly service to customers who call.
