Job summary

The Missouri Department of Agriculture’s Meat and Poultry Inspection Program seeks qualified inspectors to work with processors, producers, and retailers to ensure safe, properly labeled products. You may inspect slaughter facilities and meet inspection needs across counties in southwest Missouri.

Candidates should have strong writing skills, reliability, and the ability to work extended hours or overnight when required. A valid Missouri driver’s license is mandatory.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Missouri Driver’s License.
• Five (5) or more years of professional or technical experience in environmental public health work.
• Experience in meat and poultry inspection, food sanitation, milk sanitation, and related regulatory areas preferred.

Responsibilities

• Enforce rules and regulations related to Federal Meat Inspection Act and related statutes.
• Work in meat and poultry processing and/or slaughter establishments with owners, managers and employees.
• Possibly overnight stays and training sessions as required.
• Maintain time management to meet supervisor expectations and inspection needs.
