Job summary

State of Georgia’s Department of Agriculture is hiring a Meat Inspector I (Part-Time) to support the Meat Inspection Division. The role requires inspecting red meat and processing facilities under supervision, with occasional travel and a personal vehicle.

Work hours are limited to 29 hours per week, and the position is not eligible for benefits. Applicants should have a vocational/technical degree or college coursework in science-related fields and will undergo USDA Inspection Methods training

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of college with chemistry or life sciences, or a related field, or a vocational/technical degree with coursework.
• USDA Inspection Methods training will be provided after hire.
• Temporary/hourly position with less than 30 hours per week and not eligible for benefits.

Responsibilities

• Learn to inspect red meat and meat products to determine compliance with legal standards.
• Perform antemortem and post-mortem inspections as assigned.
• Provide general support to Meat Inspection Division and travel up to 25% as required.
