The State of Georgia, Department of Agriculture, is seeking a Meat Inspector 1 or 2 for Gilmer County. Under supervision, you will inspect red meat and processing facilities to ensure compliance with standards.

Applicants should have a High School diploma or GED and one year of experience, or two years of college with chemistry or life sciences. Some travel and a post-hire USDA Inspection Methods training are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED and one year of experience in the area of assignment; or two years of college, which included 12 semester hours or 20 quarter hours in chemistry or life science.
• Preference for a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Environmental Science, Biology, or closely related field.

Responsabilités

• Inspect red meat, products, and meat processing facilities to determine compliance with legal standards.
• Perform ante-mortem and post-mortem inspections.
• Must have access to a personal vehicle or reliable transportation; travel up to 15% of total travel.
• Work in adjoining areas as program requirements dictate.
