Job summary

IGA in Sumter, SC is hiring for a Meat Department lead to manage daily meat operations, supervise staff, and ensure quality, safety, and customer service. You will work with store management to optimize sales, inventory, and merchandising while maintaining department standards.

The role requires 1–3 years in meat/supermarket environments, physical capability to lift 50 lbs and read directions, plus strong leadership and training skills.

Qualifications

• High school education and 1-3 years meat or supermarket experience.
• Must be 18 years old.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs occasionally and 25 lbs constantly.
• Ability to read directions and operate meat department tasks.
• Knowledge of meat operations and supervision capabilities.
• Ability to train and develop staff.

Responsibilities

• Follow weekly sales program to maximize sales and gross profit.
• Prepare meat records, follow policies for cutting, weighing, pricing, packaging, and displaying.
• Unload trucks and maintain backroom storage.
• Maintain coolers/freezers and inventory control.
• Ensure sanitation, safety, and security; provide customer service.
• Schedule department and review operations with Store Manager.
• Train staff and develop talent within the department.
