Job summary

Giant Eagle, Inc. is seeking a Meat Team Leader to oversee the entire Meat Team, driving performance, coaching staff, and promoting an inclusive culture.

The role requires leadership to maintain department operations and ensure safety, while driving sales and margin through effective team management. The successful candidate will coach team members, manage inventories and budgets, and partner with merchandising to execute promotions.

Qualifications

• Experience Required: Retail work experience or Store Leader recommendation; Meat Cutting
• Experience Desired: Retail leadership or supervisory experience; Peer Trainer or similar role; in-store champion (e.g., safety, service, wellness)
• Education Desired: High school diploma or equivalent
• Certification or Licensing Required: Meat Cutting, Meat Processing or Meat Science
• Lifting Requirement: Up to 100 pounds
• Travel Required: None
• Age Requirement: At least 18 years of age

Responsibilities

• Interview, select and train Team Members
• Direct the work of Team Members
• Appraise Team Members' productivity and efficiency for promotions or changes in status
• Handle Team Member issues including complaints
• Discipline Team Members
• Plan the work
• Distribute or assign work among Team Members
• Provide for safety and security of Team Members or the store
• Manage the budget for the department or location
• Manage inventory for the department or location
• Monitor or implement compliance measures
• Direct, oversee, and evaluate training provided to department Team Members to reduce turnover
• Provide motivational leadership by focusing on respect and setting an exemplary example
• Identify strengths and opportunities of the team and schedule strategically
• Develop future leaders and nurture diversity and inclusion
• Maintain safety as the top priority for Team Members, guests, and products
• Inspire the team and guests with a passion for food and service
• Set and reach aggressive sales and profit goals while managing shrink
• Establish ongoing communication with the team about promotions and readiness
• Collaborate with merchandising to communicate promotions to Team Members and guests
• Make innovative plans to improve the business
• Review and analyze store financials and reports to improve sales, profits, shrink, and labor controls
