Job summary

Giant Eagle, Inc. is seeking a Meat Team Leader to manage the entire Meat Team and drive department performance. The role emphasizes leadership, inclusion, and coaching, with accountability for operational results and cost controls.

You will mentor team members, oversee training, and promote mutual respect within a diverse work environment. The position requires experience in retail or store leadership within meat operations, with strong product knowledge and a track record of developing team

Qualifications

• Retail leadership or supervisory experience; Meat department knowledge.
• Successful performance as Peer Trainer or in-store champion (e.g., safety, service, wellness).
• Meat cutting certification or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Interview, select and train Team Members.
• Direct the work of Team Members.
• Appraise Team Members' productivity and efficiency for promotions or status changes.
• Handle Team Member issues including complaints.
• Discipline Team Members.
• Plan and distribute the work among Team Members.
• Ensure safety and security of Team Members and the store.
• Manage department or location budget and inventory.
• Monitor compliance and oversee training to reduce turnover and labor costs.
• Provide motivational leadership with respect and exemplary conduct.
• Develop future leaders and promote inclusivity and diversity.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent; Meat Cutting/Meat Processing/Meat Science certification
