Job summary

Kroger Co. is seeking a Meat Department leader to deliver exceptional customer service, ensure a safe, clean environment, and drive sales and profit goals while upholding quality standards and adherence to company values.

You will monitor all department activities, train associates, plan schedules, manage promotions and inventory, and partner with store management to implement business plans that delight customers and support store performance.

Qualifications

• Excellent oral/written communication skills.
• Current food handlers permit once employed.
• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, subtraction).

Responsibilities

• Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service.
• Establish and maintain a safe, clean environment for customers.
• Achieve sales and profit goals for the department and monitor quality standards.
• Monitor all functions, duties and activities related to the Meat department.
• Communicate information to associates and promote trust and respect.
• Establish department performance goals and empower associates to meet targets.
• Develop scheduling to manage customer volume.
• Train associates on performance and participate in evaluations.
• Assist customers with questions and product location within the department and store.
• Inform customers of promos and offer product samples.
• Inspect products for quality and freshness and take action if needed.
• Develop and implement a department business plan.
• Create and execute sales promotions with store management.
• Educate associates on in-store promotions affecting the department.
• Prepare seasonal critiques for sales and merchandising supervision.
• Implement period promotional plans for the department.
• Assist management with budgeting, expense control, and financial reporting.
• Schedule daily, weekly and monthly price changes and update signage.
• Plan and organize inventory, monitor stocking conditions, and train staff on CAO.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and maintain temperature logs.
• Adhere to safety procedures and report safety risks or incidents.
• Report any illegal activity and comply with laws and company guidelines.
• Perform essential job functions with or without accommodations.
