Job summary

Piggly Wiggly Montgomery is seeking a Meat Department Manager to lead the meat and seafood operation, drive sales and margins, and ensure strict USDA/OSHA sanitation compliance. You will coach staff, manage inventory, and perform cutting duties as needed to meet business demands.

The role requires heavy lifting, cooking and trimming skills, and the ability to supervise in a fast-paced retail environment. A ServSafe-like certification is preferred and on-the-job training is provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 2–3 years as a professional meat cutter with 1 year in leadership.
• Active Food Manager Certification or ability to obtain within 12 months.
• Professional proficiency in English to interpret documentation.

Responsibilities

• Drive profitability by analyzing sales, controlling shrink, and managing inventory.
• Oversee receiving, cold storage, and product rotation to ensure freshness.
• Build labor schedules and supervise staff with coaching and training.
• Enforce safety, sanitation, and PPE usage per regulations.
• Lead merchandising, pricing, and signage to support local marketing.
