Job summary

Piggly Wiggly is seeking a Meat Department Manager to lead a vital department with a commercial mindset. You will own vendor relationships, curate product ranges, and drive profitability through smart pricing and promotions, while upholding high quality standards for the community.

This role covers strategic growth, budgeting, staff leadership, and ensuring safety and operational excellence in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in meat department or high-volume retail environment is highly recommended.
• Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs and safely operate butcher knives, power slicers, wrapping stations.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Growth: plan department objectives to maximize consumer appeal and profitability.
• Financial & Performance Oversight: monitor budgets and performance data to hit goals.
• Team Leadership: recruit, train, and supervise staff; conduct reviews and mentor.
• Merchandising & Vendor Relations: manage vendor relationships and pricing/promotions.
• Operational Integrity: ensure efficiency and compliance with policies and safety standards.
• Expert Oversight: uphold food safety, quality, and cleanliness.
