Job summary

Fry’s Food Stores in Phoenix, AZ seeks an energetic Meat Department lead to drive exceptional customer service and achieve department goals. You will supervise daily operations, train staff, schedule coverage, and manage inventory while maintaining safety and product quality.

Ideal candidates have strong communication skills, basic math, and the ability to handle busy conditions. Previous meat/retail or management experience is a plus; bilingual abilities are valued.

Qualifications

• Excellent oral/written communication skills.
• Current food handlers permit once employed.
• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, subtraction).
• Meat/retail experience preferred.
• Management experience preferred.
• Second language skills a plus.

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates, with a positive attitude.
• Communicate department information to associates.
• Establish department performance goals and empower associates to meet targets through teamwork.
• Develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume.
• Train and develop associates on performance and participate in appraisals.
• Create an environment where customers feel welcome and informed about products.
• Inform customers of produce specials and offer samples to help discovery of new items.
• Review products for quality and freshness and take action as needed.
• Develop and implement a department business plan to achieve results.
• Create and execute sales promotions in partnership with store management.
• Inform and educate associates about current and upcoming promotions.
• Prepare seasonal critiques for the sales/merchandising supervisor.
• Implement period promotional plans for the department.
• Assist management in budgeting, expense control, and P&L reviews.
• Schedule price changes and update shelf tags.
• Plan inventory processes and CAO training for associates.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and logs are maintained.
• Reinforce safety programs and report risks or incidents.
• Adhere to laws and company guidelines and perform duties with/without accommodation.
