Job summary

Southside Market & Barbeque is seeking team members in Leander, TX to join our smokehouse team. You will assist with guest orders, help prepare and package smoked meats, and keep work areas clean and organized in a busy kitchen environment.

The role requires English fluency, physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds, and a Food Handler Certificate prior to day one. Prior food handling and customer service experience are preferred. Flexible part-time schedules and benefits are available.

Qualifications

• Food Handler Certificate required before day 1.
• Previous food handling experience preferred.
• Previous customer service experience preferred.
• English fluency required for all job related circumstances.
• Basic math skills for item measurement and pricing.

Responsibilities

• Communicates with guests to ensure order accuracy and satisfaction.
• Restocks meat items and communicates with management when replenishment is needed.
• Helps prepare orders and ensures accuracy of each order.
• Uses knife skills to cut and package smoked meats to order.
• Weights meats to exact specifications.
• Accurately completes transfer sheets.
• Maintains cleanliness and organization.
• Observes safety and security standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Communicates well with guests to ensure accuracy of order and guest satisfaction.
• Communicates with management when meat items need replenished.
• Helps prepare orders and ensures accuracy of each order.
• Utilizes safe and efficient knife skills to cut and package smoked meats to order.
• Weighs meats to exact specifications.

Qualifications – EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Food Handler Certificate required prior to day 1.
• Previous food handling experience preferred.
• Previous customer service experience preferred.
• Ability to listen, read, write and speak fluently in English for all job related circumstances.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
• Practical problem solving skills.
• While performing the duties of this job, he/she is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. He/she is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. He/she must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
