Position Overview

The meat cutter is responsible for increasing customer confidence and loyalty by providing courteous and prompt service, maintaining consistent operating conditions, and creating a friendly atmosphere. Under supervision, this position cuts meat to specifications for variety, size, quality, and trim.

Primary Responsibilities & Accountabilities

• Provide continuous attention to customer needs; greet, assist, and thank customers promptly and courteously.
• Prepare and package food products, process customer orders, and handle various meats to production standards.
• Receive and breakdown meat deliveries.
• Utilize cutting lists to cut and trim products as directed.
• Wrap, weigh, and price products properly.
• Cube, slice, and grind meat as needed.
• Observe local, state, and federal laws and standards regarding weights, measures, sanitation, and labeling.
• Operate department equipment safely.
• Offer product suggestions when appropriate.
• Stock, rotate, and restock department products, maintaining freshness and minimizing waste.
• Keep work area clean and safe; report hazards and faulty equipment.
• Report theft, shoplifting, unauthorized markdowns, or property defacement.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions in English.
• Authorization to work in the U.S. or ability to obtain it.
• Successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and background check.
