Job summary

Homeland is seeking a Meat Cutter to identify and breakdown meat, weigh and wrap products, and ensure attractive presentation. You will greet customers, answer questions and process special requests with courtesy in a fast-paced store environment.

Responsibilities include preparing storage areas, verifying deliveries, inspecting quality, coding dates, stocking shelves, and rotating stock to face fronts. Safety and cleanliness are essential in daily tasks.

Qualifications

• Meat cutting and trimming according to department standards.
• Excellent customer service and basic cashiering skills.
• Ability to read invoices, signs and perform basic math.

Responsibilities

• Identify meat cuts, breakdown, weigh and wrap products per standards.

• Review the perishable department board and follow intercom guidelines.
• Prepare area for receipt of merchandise, verify invoices and inspect deliveries.

Apply here today!Oklahomans Feeding Oklahomans.Meat CutterPrimary ResponsibilitiesTo identify the various cuts of meat, to breakdown cut and trim all meat products as directed by company standards, weigh, wrap/package products in a clean, neat and attractive package.To greet customers, respond to customer questions/requests/complaints and explain store policies in a courteous manner, as well as to write down customers’ special orders/requestsTo review the perishable department Communication Board daily and follow the guidelines for intercom announcements.To prepare/organize the cooler/freezer/backroom/preparation area for receipt of merchandise, verify the merchandise against the invoice, inspect the delivery for quality/shortages/damage, sort cases for stocking or product preparation and code-date all case items in the cooler/freezer.To load stocking carts/pallets, transport cases/product to sales floor/ cooler/freezer/product preparation area either on stocking carts or pallets, match the case strip to the shelf/case tag/stock, open cases, place merchandise in the designated cooler/freezer/case/shelf/display position/area, check the product code/freshness date and \"face/front\"/rotate each product on display.To understand the operations, safety requirements and restraints of a baler, case cutter, pallet jack, pricing gun, grinder, tenderizer, saw, knife, slicer, scales, wrapper, (must be 18 years or older to operate the pallet jack, baler, grinder, tenderizer, saw and slicer).SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Journeyman Meat Cutter reports directly to the Meat Department Manager.QualificationsBasic Mathematics (Add, subtract, multiply, divide)High School Diploma or EquivalentPrior meat cutting experienceSpecific tasksLift, twist, move and carry a maximum of 75 lbs., from the floor to shelving, or overhead racks in the store and cooler/freezer, and up to 10 yards.Maintain active signage and pricing in all departmental areasCare for signs, banners, and debris from daily operationsAccurately and efficiently handle cash, debit/credit, EBT/WIC, coupons, and vouchersRespond to customers, coworkers, and vendor questions and responses promptly and politelyProper usage of store phone and intercom systemsTo supervise/perform the checking of case and cooler temperatures 4 times daily utilizing the time keeping system to record each check.To clean and sanitize department floors, mirror, case, racks, tables, cooler, freezer, department equipment, product-preparation area, and shelves. Safely use cleaning equipment and chemicals.Read production-equipment gauges/controls, case labels/strips, equipment and chemical-warning labels, signs, tags, shelf signs, code dates, invoices, temperature gauges, reports, numbers and aisle markers.Work Environment Note:Inside work with transitions of heat/cold/humidity/dust from backdoor/compressors/cooler/freezer/preparation area.The above statements are intended to describe the general nature of work performed by the employees assigned to this job.
