General Function

Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service. Wraps, trims, stocks cases, and receives merchandise in the Meat and/or Seafood Department.

Reporting Relations

Reports to: District Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Operations, Perishables, Health Wellness Home, Meat Department Manager, Assistant Meat Department Manager, Seafood Department Manager, Assistant Seafood Department Manager, Service Managers.

Positions reporting to this role: Under certain circumstances, part-time stockers may receive direction from this position.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service, exhibiting caring, concern, and patience in all interactions.
• Greets customers in a friendly manner and makes efforts to learn and address customers by name.
• Assists customers with locating products, securing out-of-reach items, loading/unloading heavy items, and passing along suggestions or requests.
• Answers calls promptly and provides helpful service, including taking orders.
• Works as part of a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a positive work environment.
• Wraps, weighs, and labels products.
• Ensures food freshness, stocks cases, and rotates products.
• Prepares retail cuts of meat and seafood for display.
• Maintains cleanliness and proper sanitation of the work area.
• Replenishes coolers and reports out-of-stock items.
• Performs trimming, slicing, tenderizing, and grinding of products.
• Removes trash timely and maintains personal hygiene and dress standards.
• Adheres to company policies and reports to scheduled work times.

Secondary Duties

• Prepares signage, orders merchandise, assists in other store areas, and performs special projects as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Characteristics

• Ability to follow detailed instructions and deal with concrete variables.
• Basic math skills and ability to record and copy figures.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal/demonstrated instructions and request supplies orally or in writing.

Education and Experience

High School diploma or equivalent, food safety training, and up to six months of related work experience.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to exert up to 85 pounds of force occasionally, 40 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly.
• Visual capabilities include vision from less than 20 inches to over 20 feet, color vision, depth perception, and field of vision.
• Physical activities include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Working Conditions

Environment involves cool, damp conditions, frequent noise, exposure to cleaning solvents, and potential electrical hazards in a fast-paced setting.

Equipment Used

Knives, grinders, tenderizer, slicer, pallet jack, tumbler, wrapping system, rotisserie, and other tools.
